Well, the stuff the pharmacist gave me didn't do any good for me. It was a strong decongestant, and since I wasn't stuffy my nose, throat and mouth got REALLY dry. And everywhere I got dry, I got swollen as is what usually happens at home during the winter when the heater's on. So I woke up quite swollen, but the itchy spot in my throat had disappeared. I have no intention of continuing to use those other pills they gave me. What I think really helped was the tea I bought lastnight.
I headed home instead of to my cafe right after our trip to the Teatro Nacional. I was starting to feel really bad after the meds kicked in. But I did get off a stop early (which is the Mas x Menos stop) and I went into the store and bought some chamomile tea (chamomile is used for relaxation and to reduce swelling). I drank a cup before dinner and one after dinner, and then had more honey and lemon and went to bed at about 8ish. I started to feel better after the medicine started weakening.
Now, about the Teatro Nacional! It was a very impressive building! It was built in the 1890s because the rich people of Costa Rica wanted to have a place where famous performers could come. Almost all the statues were made in Italy and shipped here. The paintings on the ceilings and walls were painted by Europeans and then the canvases were sent to Costa Rica and then attached to their various locations. All the gold you see is real--gold leafing. It has a lot of different styles of architecture mixed together. Costa Rican architects were sent to tour Europe before drafting the blueprints for this building. Anyways, it's really fancy, and I'll let the picures do the talking. Oh, and while we were there, there was an opera rehearsal going on. That was rather interesting because our group of like 80 people walked in and toured the room they were rehearsing in.
Well, gonna head up to my cafe and get some tea there as well. Hasta Luego!
