I’m now 20 years old! No longer a teenager. I’ve had a pretty sweet birthday even though I’ve had school on it for the first time ever. Yesterday I had my birthday coke. Then this morning I was greeted by a baby lizard. Gabi sang Feliz Cumpleaños to me, she tried to have Ashley chime in, but she Ashley tried she said the wrong thing. lol Then Miriam said Feliz Cumpleaños and gave me a hug when she walked into composition class. The girls I met and ate lunch with said Happy Birthday. Then Miriam came and joined me at the Café today and she bought me a slice of some very good cake “Tres Chocolates” mmm :-D Very nice!
In composition we went over bits and pieces of several things. It just seemed like she was trying cram stuff in for our exam tomorrow. But thankfully almost all of the stuff I’ve already studied before; it’s just a matter of refreshing my memory.
In conversation we had a good time. We were talking about our weekends and there were some crazy stories! One girl and her friend when to Volcán Arenal and her friend flooded the whole hotel room by taking a shower. The same thing happened to another girl as well. Then I and another girl had stories that related to the movie we watched Thursday. (The movie Bordertown is about the women who work in a factory in Juarez and how there have been thousands of rapes and murders. One of the main characters was raped, but survived the attempted murder. But what happened was the girl was the last one on the bus, and the factory bus driver asked if it was okay if he went and got gas. She said yes, and he drove into the desert, I’m sure you can guess what happens next.) Anyways, one of the girls in my class was in a van with a few other people on the way to Arenal and their driver turned around and asked if it was okay if he stopped for gas. She freaked out! And on Saturday, I ended up being the last person on the bus! That NEVER happens, they’re usually packed. I was even going home during daylight hours so that there would be lots of people since I didn’t have a buddy with me. Then bus driver said something along the lines of “you’re the only one” I stood up right quick and said the next stop was mine. It was true, too. Most of the bus got off at the stop right before mine. The same girl that had the guy ask for gas also had a very…interesting…guide. From what I understood he was only wearing underwear, not boxers, but whitie-tighties. … She obviously have a strange weekend! Then after that we went through a slide show of different household items by room. Adding to our vocabularies and refreshing our memories of old words. It was very helpful. I hope she continues to do stuff like that.
After class I walked to the school cafeteria because several people said that had really good and cheap food. But they were closed today. So I went to the mall with 2 girls that actually had never been to the mall before so I showed them how to get there and around the food court and had lunch with them. Nice girls…I don’t remember their names…I don’t think I’ve seen them before either…they’re about 80 people from the States here in our “group” so it’s quite possible that I had never met them before.
After that I headed up to the Café Kracovia. When I got here, I went down to the basement area and the waiter came down the stairs after me and said, “milkshake chocolate” I said “Sí, pero un poco tarde” Not sure how grammatically correct that was, but he understood, and an hour later he came and set a chocolate milkshake next to me! Pretty awesome service here! After that I got to Skype with my parents a bit and then Miriam came and joined me at this table. While I was talking to my parents she talked to the waiter and bought me a slice of cake and they even tried to find a candle, but they couldn’t find one! :-) It was delicious cake though. Then I got to say hi to a very tired Steven. And now I’m probably going to go back to my house and chill awhile. Hasta Luego!
:-) Rek
