As some of you may know, the plan was originally to go to Mexico for the WHOLE summer, but due to drug wars, violence, kidnapping, and various relatives telling my parents to not let me go to Mexico, the choice was made to go to Costa Rica.
It was kind of a spur of the moment decision. One day I was telling the International Studies department at Upstate that I was going to Mexico and the next I was turning in an application to the Universidad de Costa Rica.
I'm not going alone though. A few other students and a professor from Upstate will be there, in addition to all the other study abroad students coming from other places. I'm taking 6 credit hours: Spanish Conversation I and Spanish Composition I. I'll be staying with a host family for the month and getting to see lots of cool things while I'm down there. Hopefully I'll come back speaking the language or at least being able to think in Spanish.
Well, I'm not leaving until June 28th, but figured I'd start setting up the blog while I was thinking of it.
